Bioshock Infinite Gameplay Trailer

Siiiiiick!

by Veggie Jackson

Columbia seems like a lovely place to live.  With its early 20th century aesthetics, classic architecture, gleaming streets and sidewalks, and a unique mode of transportation, it's poised to become one of the most iconic and memorable cities in gaming history.  It also happens to be floating in the freaking sky, so it’s got that going for it, too.   As this new Bioshock Infinite  gameplay trailer illustrates, however, the city can change pretty quickly, from a sparkling bastion of hope and progress to a nightmarish hellscape where monsters throw horses at you.

The video is quite impressive, showing off just how gorgeous the city of Columbia is.  Rapture, the setting for the first two Bioshock games, was an impressive achievement in its own right, but its dark, claustrophobic feel made it tough to see the tiny details.  In Columbia, it’s all readily apparent, and it's quite a sight to behold.  Of course, there's plenty of telekinetic action in the video, as well, and some examples of how the main character will interact with Elizabeth, and those are just as jaw-dropping as the city itself.  Bioshock Infinite is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing games of the year, and I can't wait for its arrival.

Not to be nitpicky, but I doubt that was real, actual gameplay in a coded game world with an actual guy playing with a controller. Because, from the character movement, to camera movement, to the lack of in-game hud or indicators, it looks like a well made cgi video that is acting like a placeholder for the type of gameplay experiences that we can expect when the game does come out in 2 years. Also, if this was actual gameplay, it would not take another 2 years to finish it, since it looks way too polished, imo. But, irregardlessly, the world and "gameplay" of Infinite look very imaginative, unique, and thrilling, and I hope it does come out sooner than they say it will.

Good call ozymandias. Not to be a stick in the mud, but doesn't it seem a little action-heavy for a Bioshock game?
