Blood Bowl Trailer Released

and PC Release Date Announced

by Veggie Jackson

Blood Bowl, the fantasy football game based on the tabletop strategy game, Warhammer, is getting the video game treatment, courtesy of Games Workshop and Cyanide Studios.  They’ve released a new trailer and announced that the PC version will arrive on store shelves on June 26.  Take a look at the trailer.

Ever since the days of Mutant League Football, I’ve been a fan of the odd sub-genre of fantasy sports games.  Blood Bowl looks to satisfy that obsession in two ways.  First off, there’s the standard real-time football game that should play at least somewhat similarly o the Madden series, but then there’s another way to play the game; as a turn-based strategy game.  Apparently, players will be able to emulate the original board game on their PCs and consoles, bringing a beloved and unique tabletop experience to an audience that would likely never play it otherwise.

No word yet on a release date for the Xbox 360, PSP or DS versions of the game, but I expect we’ll hear something relatively soon.  If you are a PC gamer, though, you only have to wait three more weeks before getting some of that sweet Orc cheerleader action.
