Call of Duty: Black Ops Earns $1 Billion

Faster Than Any Game Ever

by Veggie Jackson

Faster than any entertainment product in history other than James Cameron’s Avatar, Call of Duty: Black Ops has reached the billion-dollar mark.  That’s BILLION.  With a B.  In American dollars.

Activision proudly announced the milestone in a press release that also touted the 600 million+ hours logged on the game.  Bobby Kotick, evil supervillain CEO of Activision, explained the game’s success; "This extraordinary milestone was achieved  because of  the tens of millions of passionate Call of Duty players around the world.  Global audiences have logged billions of hours online with Call of Duty games on Xbox LIVE, the Playstation Network and on personal computers.  This unique level of community engagement has enabled Call of Duty to become one of the world's most engaged online communities.”

One billion dollars.  To put that in perspective, imagine all the money you've earned in your life and all the money you could potentially earn, then imagine a giant pile of gold laughing hysterically at it.
