Capcom Announces Dormammu, Viewtiful Joe for MvC3

Cool. Now Where the Hell is Strider?

by Veggie Jackson

Capcom has added two more fighters to the roster of their upcoming fighting game, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.  The first is a Capcom character that we all pretty much knew would make it in the game, and the second is a Marvel character who we definitely knew would be in the game, because Capcom already announced his inclusion.  Viewtiful Joe and Dormammu will be joining Ryu, Wolverine, Captain America, Morrigan, and the rest.

Viewtiful Joe, a movie buff-turned superhero, last appeared in Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, a game that pretty much inspired the rebirth of the Marvel Vs. Capcom series.  As for Dormammu, he’s an interdimensional sorcerer and tyrant, and the arch-enemy Dr. Strange.  We already knew he’d be in the game in some form or another, as the last video teased, but now we know he’ll be playable.  Also, his head is constantly on fire, so he’s got that going for him, too.

With 18 fighters announced so far, the roster is starting to take shape, and it’s pretty much shaking out how we expected.  There are still a few major characters that need to be announced (Spider-Man, Ken), as well as some that we can assume will be included (Strider, Dr. Strange), but with about half the roster revealed, MvC3 is looking like the fantasy crossover fighting game we’ve all been hoping for.

Dormammu's sort of an odd choice. I'm still holding out for Mega Man and Proto Man. I know Proto Man probably won't happen, but a man can dream!
