Champions Online Given Release Date

It's a Bastille Day Blowout!

by Veggie Jackson

Strategy Informer is reporting that Champions Online, the superhero MMO for the Xbox 360 and PC has been given a release date.  Cryptic Games Executive Producer Bill Roper made the announcement today at an event in the UK, stating that Champions Online will be released in North America and Europe on July 14.  Roper did not specifically mention if both planned versions of the game are being released on this date, but until we hear otherwise, we’ll assume this applies to both versions.  After all, GameStop is displaying pre-order boxes for both versions, and they're NEVER wrong...

Since the game wasn’t formally announced until February of last year, this seems like an extremely quick turnaround for an MMO.  When you consider the fact that Cryptic knows its way around superhero MMOs (it made City of Heroes, after all), and that Champions Online is built from the remains f the now-dead Marvel Universe MMO, it makes a bit more sense.  We’ll keep you updated with any new information that arises regarding the game’s release date.

MMOs seem too in-depth to be played with an Xbox controller. Does this seem implausible to anyone else?
