D&D Online Not Going Free in Europe

There's a "Radio Free Europe" Joke Here Somewhere...

by Veggie Jackson

Yesterday, we reported to the world that Dungeons & Dragons Online would be going to a free-to-play business model supported by a new DDO store and a paid VIP membership system.  Sorry Europe, that info was apparently not meant for you.

On the DDO-Europe website, Turbine clarified and qualified the new business model with the following;

“To clarify, for the time being, DDO Europe will not be assuming this new business model and the European DDO game service will remain a monthly subscription-based game with all new content created available to all subscribers, as has been the model up until now. As the Beta progresses we will release more information regarding the future plans for EU players.”

So USA gets free DDO, and Europe gets the status quo.  At least for now.  Where does that leave the Asian market?  I assume someone in Asia is playing this game.  Anyone?
