Dante's Inferno Not Coming to Middle East
The Only Way To Keep It From Being Banned

You didn’t actually think that Dante’s Inferno would be allowed to come out in the Middle East, did you?I didn’t, and apparently, neither did EA. Instead of going through the inevitable process of having the game banned in the region, EA decided to skip the middle man, and simply not attempt to release the game in the Middle East.
As it turns out, folks in that area of the world take their religion very seriously, kind of like Americans are with American Idol. Because of this, games with religious themes tend to be viewed unfavorably in the region, and generally aren’t allowed to be sold. Darksiders and the God of War games were both banned due to their use of religious and mythological themes. Dante’s Inferno’s seemingly pervasive violence may also have been an issue, as well, as we’ve seen non-religious games like Grand Theft Auto IV and X-Men Origins: Wolverine receive the same treatment.
Of course, with the rampant software piracy and bootlegging that goes on in the Middle East, almost anyone who wants the game will have a chance to get it. As always, if the legitimate market won’t provide for the people, the black market will.
