It might have been a gaff on the part of Amazon or it might have been an intentional leak on the part of EA, but either way, a picture of the collector’s edition of Dead Space 2 showed up on the retail site yesterday.  Along with some fancy packaging and digital content, the edition also features a miniature replica of the in-game weapon, the Plasma Cutter.

From the image, it appears that the collector’s edition will include the game, the Dead Space 2 soundtrack, a voucher for some sort of downloadable content, an animation cell, a large box, and a five to six-inch long replica of the Plasma Cutter.  The Cutter is Isaac Clarke’s default weapon, kind of like the standard pistol in almost every other action shooter.  In the game, the weapon is depicted as approximately twelve inches in length, making the replica a ½ scale recreation. 

It would certainly be cooler if we were getting a full-size Plasma Cutter that we could hold in our hands like a real gun, but the smaller replica is still pretty cool, and gives me extra incentive to pick up the CE.  The rest of the stuff is pretty basic, but the DLC could be something interesting or unique.  Amazon pulled the listing shortly after it went up, but we expect an official announcement about the edition soon.
