Sandwiched between a womens’ murder mystery game and a paper doll simulator, Nintendo actually announced a DS game that looks interesting; COP: The Recruit.

Seemingly taking a page from GTA, COP: The Recruit is a 3rd person action game that puts players in the role of Dan Miles, an illegal street racer who is given the choice to either work undercover for the cops, or go to jail.  The on-screen action is a mix of 3rd person shooting and driving, and looks to take place in a massive open world.

The footage shown at the press conference was definitely touched up, as it looked to run at about 240 frames per second, but if the real game looks even remotely like the concept video, then we may be in for a decent GTA clone that plays more like GTA than GTA: Chinatown Wars does.  We’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this one as the week continues, so stick with Gamervision for this and more E3 coverage.
