E3 09: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom US Trailer Revealed
Plus Special Features for Western Versions
When Capcom announced that they would be bringing their newest entry in the “VS.” fighting series, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes, to American shores, many wondered if obscure Japanese characters could sell here. At E3, Capcom made a believer out of me by announcing that t he US version would not only receive a name change to Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars, but that five new exclusive characters would be appearing. They also showed this impressive video that is, at the same time exciting and potentially seizure-inducing. Take a look.
In order to fit the five new characters, one Tatsunoko character, Hakushon Daimaō, who looks a bit like a hippo and a lot like a joke, was removed. We have no idea who the five new characters will be, so it will be interesting to see if they go with Japanese animated characters who are popular in America, American animated characters, or Capcom characters. The Western versions of the game will also support Wi-Fi versus play, a feature notably omitted from the Japanese release.
Everything I’ve seen from this game leads me to believe it will be a spectacular 2D fighter, and the addition of five new characters has me glued to my screen in anticipation of some announcements. My picks would be Brenda from Perfect Hair Forever, Brock Samson from Venture Bros., Afro Samurai, and Killface and Awesome X from Frisky Dingo. It’s far more likely, however, that it will be Mega-Man, Captain Commando, Strider Hiryu, Chris Redfield and Arthur from Ghosts ‘n Goblins. Those would be okay, too.

I don't even know what anime characters fall under the Tatsunoko license, so it's hard to venture a guess. Does anyone know what notable anime they air in the States?
