Episodic Watchmen Games Are Coming
Life And Death Are Unquantifiable Abstracts. Why Should I Be Concerned?
Hey hardcore fanboys; prepare to be incensed. If you thought you were angry about the mere existence of a Watchmen movie, you should be downright livid about Warner Bros’ plans to create a game based on the movie, which is in turn based on the award winning graphic novel. Fans who believe that no one can properly adapt the dense, bizarre superhero tale to the big screen (no matter how bad-ass the trailer is…and it is indeed bad-ass) will certainly believe that trying to shoehorn it into video game form can only result in failure, heartbreak and misery. Warner Bros., though, is not run by fanboys, and so they’re going ahead with their plan to produce episodic Watchmen games for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
The first episode will be released alongside the theatrical release of the movie next March, and the second will coincide with the DVD release. Described as an action title and featuring Nite Owl and Rorschach, the game is being developed by Deadline Games, the group that brought us Chili Con Carnage and Total Overdose. The game they are currently working on is a western shooter called Faith and .45. The company may not have much of a track record, but their name leads me to believe that they will have no problem getting the short games out on time. Whether they’ll be any good is another question altogether.

I was with the fanboys when I first heard the announcement of the movie. But then I saw the trailer before The Dark Knight. I am now on board.

Anyone who is worried about the movie/game/figurines/inevitable sequel not doing the source material justice can just ignore them. No one's gonna twist your arm.

Well said Tim. Even if the movie or the game suck terribly, it doesn't diminish the quality or impact of the original material.
I'm reading through the book right now and am having a good time reading it. When I saw the trailer my eyes widened and, as if a part of a sequence, continued to widen with every other trailer.
(Please note that I do not condone the creation of a third Mummy film. Neither the story line nor the characters that, with exception to Rachael Weiss not being there, will make me want to see this film.)
I see your point, Tim. Plus, a good game and a bad game have the same number of molecules in them, so why does it matter?
