Tomonobu Itagaki and Valhalla Studios (formerly Team Ninja) are famous for their Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive series.  Today, Gametrailers has revealed the trailer for the team’s first shooter, Devil’s Third.  So what does a studio that specializes in wall-running swordsmen and boob-a-licious hand-to-hand combat do with a shooter?  Fill it with wall-running swordsmen and boob-a-licious hand-to-hand combat, of course..

Filled with bloody cut scenes and intriguing (and equally bloody) gameplay, the first Devil’s Third trailer is nothing short of impressive.  The game looks to combine third-person shooting action with fluid swordplay and melee action in a gritty, modern setting.  There also seem to be at least two protagonists; a scarred male who looks as if he stepped out of a Yakuza game, and a female lead that looks to have originated in Borderlands.  With single- and multiplayer action already announced for the game, two protagonists makes sense, and we hope to see the two players working side-by-side in future trailers.

Many may have been skeptical about Itagaki doing a shooter, but this trailer should allay some of those fears.  We expect to see more of Devil’s Third at E3, and will be following this game as more developments surface.
