Ghostbusters Finally Has A Publisher
Who Ya Gonna Call? A-TAR-I!

Of all the titles left with uncertain futures as a result of the Activision/Blizzard merger, Ghostbusters is probably the highest profile and most eagerly anticipated. After seeing the game in action, it would be an absolute sin to see it languish in limbo, unable to find a publisher after Sierra, the original publisher, was dissolved. Fortunately, Atari has announced that they will be picking up the title, and releasing it “early next summer,” to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the original film.
As an additional piece of good news, Atari also announced that they have obtained the rights to The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, an in-development follow-up to the 2004 Xbox hit, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay. They have also signed a deal with Universal to make more Riddick games in the future.
Everything we’ve seen so far from the Ghostbusters game has instilled confidence in the project, and if the first game in the series is any indication, the Riddick series should also be a worthwhile endeavor. Look at you, Atari; coming up with major licenses and quality games. Whod’a thunk it?

Thank you Atari. For you are the slickest, coolest, cat of all!
this is great news indeed, though i thought its been known for a month or so now that atari had picked it up, maybe just not announced for sure yet. Its also great to hear about the riddick game, wonder when we could see that game.
Activision was flat STUPID for letting this go !!
Agreed on Riddick - the first game was awesome. If they build on the jail sequences I'll fall in love all over again.
ACTIVISION IS FULL OF MORONIC LOSERS! How could a video-game publisher not want to publish a game based on a movie that every gamer considers as one of their favorite series from their childhood?!!
When I think of gamers I think of Ghostbusters. Its like the two are essential for gamers my age. What a dumb F**KING decision on Activision's part. I hope they regret this.
Also.... WOO Atari for getting how important this game is to us.
Atari was very smart to get this... they were kind of on the downtrend and not looking too good but this should really help their numbers. Activision will be kicking themselves when this goes on to sell a TON and Crash is sitting there selling a small amount.
My friend was looking foreword to this game maybe now I will get it since its coming out again
I thought this game was pretty close to being done anyway? Does that mean a release may be in the near future???? (pretty pretty please!)
@ Jpage0024: "How could a video-game publisher not want to publish a game based on a movie that every gamer considers as one of their favorite series from their childhood?!!"
Because more often than not, these games turn out to be not that great. I'm cautiously optimistic about this.
@ banana, no the release will be next summer.
oh thank god, i thought i would never get to see this game be released. now lets hope ATARI doesnt blow it.
Atari CAN'T blow it... all they have to do is buy some writable DVDs and let the developer burn the game onto them. Boo to Activision for dropping the ball. Big time.
