GTA IV’s Music Download Plan

It’s The Opposite Of Exactly What You Want It To Be!

by Veggie Jackson

Wouldn’t it be cool to be able to add new songs to the radio stations in GTA IV?  For me, the excellent playlists and hilarious commercials found on the various radio stations around Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas are some of the best features of the franchise.  Having Bernie Mac go through his spiel, then hearing the sounds of Arctic Monkeys or Jimmy Cliff fade in on the station would be fantastic.  Wouldn’t it?  Sadly, that’s not what’s happening here.  No, it’s quite the opposite in fact.

Instead of what would have been an extremely cool feature, we’ll be able to mark songs in the soundtrack with the in-game cell phone, then download them through Amazon for a charge of $0.89 to $0.99.  The service is called ZiT for some reason, and you’ll need to be a member of Rockstar’s Social Club.  The one cool thing about this is that the songs will be DRM-free, so they’re yours to burn, copy or do with what you like.  Still, though, wouldn’t it have been cool to add new songs to your radio stations?  Oh well.

I can't wait until this service gets crazy popular. Then we can call it, "poppin' ZiT"!

    Best. Joke. Ever.
