Ingredients For Saints Row Trailer; Sarcasm, Win

Liberty City Just Doesn't Have Enough Sewage Cannons

by Veggie Jackson

GTA IV is set to hit 10 million units any second now, and its metacritic score is still hovering around 98, so trying to argue with its success is an utterly pointless endeavor.  THQ realizes that, and for the newest promo for their GTA clone, Saints Row 2, takes advantage of it.  Watch it, it’s funny.

The Saints Row franchise may be the Dany Devito to GTA’s Arnold Schwarzenegger (essentially the same, just smaller, uglier and sillier), but the trailer has a point.  Bowling and darts are boring as hell, and spewing waste on pedestrians sounds pretty damn funny.  More importantly, the video shows the main character performing grappling moves, the number one feature I wanted to see in GTA IV.  Despite its many glitches, I really enjoyed the first SR, and every new piece of info I see on this game gets me more excited about the sequel.  Of course, Rockstar could pull the rug out from under THQ by releasing a DLC pack including planes, sewage trucks, bodyslams and shock paddles the day before SR2 launches.

If it takes Saint's Row 2 one uping GTA's gameplay to get some sweet DLC then I am 100% in favor of Saints Row sticking it to them.

    Market competition is good people!

Also that video was the shit!

I liked Saint's Row multiple type of extra curricular activities, something that seems pretty much missing in GTA4

    That was an awesome video!

Sugar, spice and everything nice. These were the ingredients of making a sweet game for many people to enjoy. Then, out of nowhere, someone spiked the already good recipe with drugs and alcohol. Thus, SAINTS ROW 2 was born!

I haven't played Saints Row online though, only the single player, and I thought it was entertaining (though I bought the game after the numerous price slashes)

I only played the demo for the original and wasn't too impressed. I just liked the commercial.

The gameplay wont be as polished as GTA IV, but it looks like the fun factor is gonna be there in SR2. Bugs and all ;)
