At this year’s Tokyo Game Show, Spike announced that they’d be bringing their cult-favorite wrestling series, Fire Pro Wrestling, to Xbox Live Arcade.  Sadly, only a Japanese release was confirmed, leaving many to wonder if the game would see a release stateside.  It looks like someone outside of Japan will be getting some Fire Pro love, however, as Australia’s classifactions board has rated the game, indicating it may see a Western release.

As a relatively big Fire Pro fan, I was intrigued by an online Fire Pro wjhere I can play against people from around the world.  The fact that the game uses only Xbox Avatars as its characters, however, utterly flies in the face of the very concept of the franchise.  FPW has always been about customization, with thousands of different moves that can be assigned to wrestlers, as well as a nearly infinite number of costume options.  So this is Fire Pro Wreslting, but with absolutely none of what makes Fire Pro worthwhile.  I don’t get it, and I won’t get it.
