King of Fighters XII Looks Crazy-Good
Remember how blown away we all were when we saw the new graphics for Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix? Remember how we all thought they did as good a job as possible creating a 2D fighter that looked like a hand-animated cartoon? Guess what; they could have done better. Here’s proof:
If SSFIITHDR blew you away, King of Fighters XII should knock you through your kitchen wall, out into the backyard, then blow up the damn backyard, too. For a series that has always lived in the shadow of Street Fighter, KoF seems to have raised the stakes with their visual presentation. Gorgeous character art? Check. Silky-smooth animations? Oh yeah. Stunning particle effects? Hells yes. Mai Shiranui? Conspicuously absent.
Seriously, where the hell is Mai?!?!?

@Karoshi: Thanks for that update. I didn't know that. I saw KoFXII and assumed this was the next installment in the series. Well, that sucks. While Terry is awesome, I just found Rock to be more of my character. Bummer.
P.S.
I STILL stand by my words in saying the NEED to remake MvC2 in the HD glory that it needs. And not that semi-HD high quality crap like UMK3. I want it just like this, or like SSF2.

It's a re-boot of the series, eliminating the NESTS saga and anything Eolith added to the series. You're not going to see Rock because Terry still isn't fond of sleeves. Canon-wise (fightan gaem canon LULZ XD) it seems as if "New Hero" team was added in because it makes sense, really. I'm sure Chizuru Kagura is in there as a mid boss.

It looks sexy, just like SSF2. Is this going to be an arcade title?
Yeah where the hell is Mai and her... um... jiggly parts? And where is Rock Howard?
Anyway, while this game looks great, I think they all had a shadow casted over them. That game was Guilty Gear.
Guilty Gear be next in the list of HD-ed games.

problem with SSFIITHDR is that they didn't add any new animation key frames, making it look awkward in animation.
And personally, I always thought KOF to always be a step above SF in animation quality.

I've always thought the KoF characters looked far less inspired and unique compared to the SF characters. After watching this...I may have changed my mind.

I can't wait for this.
Although I'm bummed to see most of the NESTS and Eolith characters go, it's about damn time SNK updated their now flagship franchise.
