Live Action Turok Movie Coming

Can Wave Race Be Far Behind?

by Veggie Jackson

In an exclusive interview with the MTV Movie Blog, Adam Beach (Flags of Our Fathers, Joe Dirt) revealed that he will be starring in a live-action Turok movie.  Based on the game series (which in turn is based on the 54-year old Gold Key comic book series), the movie is currently in pre-production following the recent completion of the Turok animated feature which also stars Beach.

The Turok franchise has seen some rough times recently, with pretty much every iteration of the series since the N64 days failing both critically and commercially, but the nostalgia for the original is ostensibly still strong enough to support a movie.  Besides that, the character is cool as hell and dinosaurs with laser guns attached to them will never go out of style.  Beach is a great choice to play the “Son of Stone”; not only is he a capable actor with a strong physical presence, he’s a real-live Native American.  Someone should tell the makers of the Prince of Persia movie about this.

We’ll keep you updated on developments, including the inevitable game based on the movie.  That would make it a game based on a movie based on a game based on a comic.  If they do a comic adaptation of the game based on the movie, I’m pretty sure the universe will implode on itself.

I hope they write the Turok character just like the guy he played in Joe Dirt. I also would love if they gave him the same hair.

Live action? I wonder where they are getting the dinosaurs from? Perhaps they are grabbing them from that failed Island park..... ;)
