Mass Effect PC Will Not Ship With Bonus Content

Not Sure When, But An Announcement Is Coming Soon

by Veggie Jackson

Sure, the PC version of Mass Effect will likely have shorter load (read: elevator ride) times and less texture pop-in than its Xbox 360 forerunner, but there’s one thing the PC crowd won’t have access to: Bring Down the Sky.  The bonus mission that introduces humanity’s rival, the Batarians, available on Xbox Live as a $10 download, will not be included in the initial launch of Mass Effect for PCs.  There is no word yet on how or when this content will be made available, but Bioware promises an “announcement soon.”

This info comes from an IGN interview with Bioware project director, Diarmid Clarke, and Matt Atwood, senior public relations director at BioWare.  In the interview, the duo ducks a question about future DLC releases and when PC content would be released in relation to 360 content.  They also reveal that the game will run on lower-end PC systems.  Said Atwood, “it'll work well on a machine that's two years old or newer, so it's a very broad market. The goal is to appeal to a broad market. We will be giving out specs soon, though.”  Good to hear that a monster rig won’t be required to get some quality Asari lovin’ once Mass Effect arrives on May 28.

Bring down the suck, Bioware. There is no reason for this.
