Amazon.com is showing the new box art for both the US and European versions of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.  The Euro box shows a somewhat abstract version of Solid Snake in a distinctly MGS art style, while the American one features a more traditional close up of Snake’s weathered, nearly elderly face.  Have a look see:

What’s strange is that the American version does not seem to feature the high-tech eyepatch that Snake wears over his left eye in this iteration.  The European one at least alludes to it, though it’s a little too obscured to see it clearly.

The game is set for release on June 12, so it’ll be a while before old Snake is staring back at us from the front of a Blu-Ray case, but at least we know what we’ll eventually have on our shelves.  Sadly, it will never be as cool as this:
