"Snake? Snake?!? SNAAAAAAKE!" Annnnnd CUT!

by Veggie Jackson

As many of you know by now, a Metal Gear movie is officially happening.   Series creator Hideo Kojima is writing the story, Michael De Luca (Wag the Dog, Blow, Ghost Rider) is producing and Kurt Wimmer (Ultraviolet, Equilibrium) is rumored to be directing.  It's way too early to expect much more info about the project - things like plot details and casting announcements are many months off.  There is, however, an interview with Michael De Luca that touchs on his vision for the film.  It's actually pretty promising, and his comments on Liquid and Solid Snake's relationship, war by proxy and Mr. Kojima's storytelling indicate that Mr. De Luca seems to have a solid understanding of the MGS mythos.  We can only hope that the movie makes a little more sense than the games do, because a nation of people walking out of theatres saying "Huh?" is not their intent.  This isn't Donnie Darko, you know.

One thing the journalist in me says about the interview...Either De Luca never pauses to breath, or the person who transcribed it needs to learn where the period key is. Seriously, the interview excerpt on Kotaku is the longest run-on sentence I've ever seen.
