Microsoft Not In Talks With Blu-Ray
Contrary To Popular Belief And Logic
Last week we (and just about everyone else) reported on the Financial Times story about Microsoft talking with Sony about adding Blu-Ray playback functionality to the Xbox 360 console. Well, as solid as the story seemed, Microsoft is now stating that it simply isn’t true.
According to Aaron Greenberg, group product manager for the 360, "Xbox is not currently in talks with Sony or the Blu-ray Association to integrate Blu-ray into the Xbox experience." Well, there's that, I guess.
With HD-DVD now officially a corpse, one can only guess that Microsoft is planning to rely solely on digital distribution of movies and TV programming, a format that neither Sony nor Nintendo have yet to embrace. Still, the key word in Greenberg’s statement may turn out to be “currently,” as an announcement next month (or next week) that the 360 will be incorporating Blu-Ray would shock just about no one.

In next week's news: Microsoft and Sony are in talks for 360 Blu-ray.
The week after: Sony and Microsoft are not in talks!
Yes! No! Yes! NO!
Hard to believe that they won't be keeping up with new technology.
Whatever MS denies should be taken with a huge grain of salt.
Still, it would have to hurt grovelling to Sony...
I don't know if "groveling" would be an appropriate thing for Microsoft to do at the moment. They still sell enough consoles to compete in the console war. Console war..., that shouldn't exist past this coming holiday season.
Anyway I'm going off subject. I think Microsoft is doing fine at the moment even with all these false talks going around the industry. In the end I believe they will be joining the blu-ray format. Just unsure as to when, much like everyone else.
