Microsoft Sued Over Halo 3 Crashes
Yeah, $5 million sounds about right.
The Xbox 360 has something of a rough track record when it comes to hardware reliability and stability. While Microsoft has admitted that there have been issues and made efforts to do right by their customers, a new lawsuit has brought a possible new issue to light. Randy Nunez has filed a federal lawsuit against Microsoft and Bungie, claiming that the system "routinely, consistently, and systematically 'froze,' 'crashed,' or 'locked up.'" while playing the massively successful game. In addition to the $5 million in damages, Nunez is seeking class-action status for his suit.
Yeah, I crashed too. You don't hear me bitching!
Nunez claims that "many consumers" have systems that have been rendered "totally inoperable" by this issue, and that Microsoft has "received numerous complaints", but have neither admitted nor done anything to resolve the problem.
Clearly, a $5 million award would be ridiculous for the alleged disabling of a console worth a maximum of $500. I don't doubt that there have been incidents where Halo 3 has crashed systems, but without some evidence of widespread issues, I can't see the class action suit amounting to much.

Just another whiner who wants publicity & money... *yawn* Wake me when he loses the case. :)
Dude... if I can get in on a $5 million class action, then this just became the most important case of the century!
Seriously though.... a nation of whiners...
$5 million in damages? come on! people jsut sue each other to get rich. all he needs is $600 at most to get a new Xbox and Halo 3.
Congratulations lawyers... your in a nation full of people who love to sue.
How do these people find the time and energy for such lawsuits? I'm still waiting to fall on someone's icy sidewalk for my payday, but I'm traditional like that.
i dunno... i kind of saw this differently. I think consumers need to toughen up when it comes to buggy games. For example... i'm playing through Mass Effect now and its just riddled with game crashing bugs. It's Unacceptable in my opinion, bioware should know better. I never personally saw any errors in halo but if these problems are in fact wide scale i hope bungie is quick to fix them.
Suavy, it's a class action suit, that $5 million is split between all owners of Halo 3.
70 bajillion copies owned worldwide. spilt 5 million big ones. that's like 200 million dollars a piece. This lawsuit is genius.
00.19 - you're doing my taxes this year.
so halo 3 is crashing systems? why havent I heard about this until right now?
