Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is highly anticipated, to say the least.  Not surprising, considering it’s the sequel to one of the best first-person-shooters of all time.  So just how anticipated is it?  Activision says it’s the most pre-ordered game in their history.

In a conference call with Industrygamer, CEO Mike Griffith stated, "The original Modern Warfare was released two years ago and has sold almost 14 million units worldwide life-to-date. The excitement for the next installment is evident by the largest pre-orders in Activision history."

Activision puts out a whole lot of A-list titles, so being the most pre-ordered in their history is quite an achievement.  The game’s paltry pre-order bonus, a poster, probably isn’t influencing those numbers much, either, so MW2 gets a clean victory. 

Griffith also stated that Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 is seeing very strong pre-orders as well, and it’s currently the fifth most pre-ordered Activision game ever.  Early adopters of MUA2 can get their hands on a playable Juggernaut, which is much better than a poster, so perhaps that’s influencing customers.  Regardless, it’s nice to see that the game isn’t being ignored by gamers, because it looks pretty sweet.
