One of the coolest things about Marvel Ultimate Alliance was the wide selection of playable B-list and C-list superheroes.  With lesser known heroes like Moon Knight, Spider Woman, Nick Fury and Ms. Marvel, the game did a great job of representing the many aspects of the Marvel Universe.  The sequel, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 Fusion, has adopted the same strategy, including characters like Penance, Songbird and Iron Fist, and yesterday, they revealed that one of the original game’s more obscure characters will be making a return to the series; Ms. Marvel.

For those not “in the know,” Ms. Marvel, AKA Carol Danvers, is a former US Air Force Officer who gained super-powers by having her genetic structure combined with that of an alien race known as the Kree.  She is super strong, invulnerable, can fly, and can absorb and project energy of almost any kind.  She is also a recovering alcoholic, a staunch conservative, a bit of a bitch, and wears the single sexiest and least practical superhero costume ever.

In recent years, Marvel has tried to push Ms. Marvel as an A-list character, putting her in her own monthly book, finally giving her an arch-enemy (Moonstone), and essentially trying to make her their Wonder Woman.  Including her in MUA2 continues this trend, and I’m very happy to see her on the roster.  Only one playable character remains to be announced.  My money's on NFL Superpro.
