New GI Joe: Rise of Cobra Screens

And Screenshots Are Half the Battle

by Veggie Jackson

Watching the development of the upcoming GI Joe movie has been kind of like watching my childhood get dragged into a creepy white van; I know it’s not being treated well, when it finally comes out it likely won’t be in very good condition, and I’m powerless to do anything about it.  I mean seriously; Marlon Wayans?!?!  Ugh.

News regarding the development of the game hasn’t been much better.  With a seeming focus on accessibility and gamers “of all ages,” and comparisons to the 1992 arcade game, it’s doubtful that we’ll get the AAA quality GI Joe game we were hoping for.

That being said, EA has released four new images from the game, GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra, and, well, they look okay, I guess.  Take a look.

Sure, that robot isn’t the Battle Android Trooper we’re used to; in fact, he looks more like that irritating Fox Sports robot, but Snake Eyes looks decent, and Duke at least looks like his movie version.  That exploding tank isn’t exactly filling me with optimism, though.

The game has at least another 6 months to cook, so things could improve.  I wouldn’t count on it, but they could improve.

Talk about awful screenshots. I think I'd like this game if everything was the same colors as the original toys, but that's just me.

Man, I know movie tie-ins are supposed to suck, but this looks shitty even for the last generation consoles.
