New Megaman Universe Trailer Reveals Gameplay, Ryu
And Keiji Says Stuff I Can't Understand
Excitement and confusion don’t traditionally go well together, but when Capcom released the first trailer for Mega Man Universe, that’s exactly what many of us felt. A slew of Capcom characters brought together for pretty much any kind of game is good news, but none of us had a clue what those characters might actually be doing together. The second trailer gives us a lot more info, and helps shift our focus from “What the hell is it?” to “When the hell does it come out?!?!”
After a lengthy intro by Keiji Inafune, we learn that Mega Man Universe will be a visually modernized 2D Mega Man game where players will be able to control numerous iconic Capcom characters. This sounds like a blast, and the inclusion of Ryu from Street Fighter ups the ante even more. I’m a huge fan of the recent trend where retro titles get modern facelifts while retaining classic gameplay, and this could turn out to be the best of the bunch. I’m curious as to how different the various characters will be (will Ryu have Hadoukens, Shoryukens, or Hurricane Kicks available?), as well as what, if any, story is supporting this mash-up, but for the time being, I’m on board for having my world "Megafied!"
