New Mortal Kombat On the Way
MK vs DC Success Ensures Sequel

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe was one of 2008’s biggest surprises. Despite a seemingly shoehorned crossover, a general disinterest in fighting games and flagging sales of the MK franchise, the game was a hit, selling over 1.8 million copies and earning a surprisingly high average of 75 on Metacritic.com. That being said, Midway, the game’s publisher, is in as bad of shape as a company can be, with $150 million in debts to its shareholders, massive layoffs, and an impending total financial collapse. This then begs the question; will we see another Mortal Kombat game?
According to Ed Boon, co-creator of Mortal Kombat and creative director for MK vs DC, the team is currently working on the "next version of Mortal Kombat." No details were given, but Boon promises them soon. Midway and Boon have stated that the DC crossover marked the end of the current MK franchise, so one can assume that the next game will reboot, restart or replace the current mythology, perhaps introducing new characters kharacters, locations lokations and, ummm Fatalities.
We’ll make sure to keep you updated with any details that emerge. I, for one, am desperately hoping for the return of Stryker; easily the series’ most beloved fighter.

I want everything back for the next one: babalities, friendships, animalities, the whole nine yards.
I CAN'T WAIT!

I WANT an old school MK. 2D and everything. I hate the newer side stepping, 3D crap. They can make a MK with Super High Res HD graphics, with TONS of characters, and TONS of Fatalities, Animalities, etc. for cheap too.
Oh... And what the **** happened to Brutalities? They were awesome. Hard to do, but awesome.
