Nintendo Returning to CES Next Year
After 16 Years Away

The last time Nintendo attended the Consumer Electronic Show, their chief console competitor was Sega, entertainment legends icons figures Dakota Fanning and Justin Bieber weren’t even born yet, and we were still trying to figure out this wacky new “Information Super Highway.” It was so long ago, in fact, that Nintendo’s main presentation involved “Project Reality,” which eventually became the Nintendo 64. It comes as some surprise, then, that the Japanese game makers have decided to return to the Las Vegas-based expo next year.
With the 3DS coming soon, Nintendo’s decision to re-enter the CES game makes sense. CES is all about investors and high muckity mucks ogling new technology that they barely comprehend, and few gadgets are more ogle-able than the 3DS. We’ll find out if there are any new game announcements for the handheld when CES hits on January 6, 2011.
