Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath Coming to PS3
Return of the Stranger

I never owned an original Xbox, so I missed out on quite a few great titles from the previous console generation. Many of the games I never got to play on Microsoft’s massive initial console ended up as backwards compatible titles on the Xbox 360, but there were still a few that I always wanted to play, but never got the opportunity. Foremost among these missed gems was Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath, a first-person shooter set in the Oddworld universe, which was never added to Xbox’s backwards compatibility list. A PS2 port was planned by EA, but it never materialized. Old Xboxes are cheap now, but I just don't have the space on my entertainment center for the monolithic box, so I’ll probably never get to play the original Xbox version. Fortunately, now I won’t have to; an HD remake of the game is coming to the PS3.
Just Add Water, the developers of Gravity Crash, are remaking Stranger’s Wrath, bumping the game’s resolution up to 720p, improving the character models, remastering the dialogue, and adding “Move” support as well as “additional bonus material.”
Managing Director of Just Add Water, Stewart Gilray, explained the relationship between his company and Oddworld Inhabitants, the original creators of the Oddworld series, and also teased the prospect of future Oddworld remakes; “Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath is the first project in what we believe will be a long and fruitful relationship. Having the chance to update this great title and release it on PS3 is just a brilliant opportunity, not least for us, but for the fans too.”
Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath is scheduled for an Easter 2011 release, and will be available for download on the PlayStation Network.
