We’re all pretty excited about the impending release of Okamiden, the DS sequel to the beloved PS2 classic, Okami.  American gamers, however, are less than thrilled at having to import the game from Japan or even illegally download it, then deal with an entire game written in a language they don’t understand.  A recent trademark discovery by Siliconera, however, may make these issues a non-factor.  It appears that Capcom is bringing the game to American shelves.

The US trademark for Okamiden was filed after the European one, so it’s pretty likely that both versions will come out.  Capcom doesn’t mess around when they file trademarks, though they do sometimes take their sweet old time getting around to releasing stuff in America, so I fully expect the game to come out, but well after the Japanese release.  I predict we’ll be painting brush strokes and “Awwww”ing over the game’s adorable protagonist, Chibiterasu, sometime in 2011.
