Razer Announces Switchblade Gaming Tablet
Adaptable, Portable, Adorable
Every year, CES attempts to give us a glimpse into the potential future of gaming. This year, PC accessory manufacturer, Razer, is revealing a new device which could change the way many of us play PC games; The Switchblade.
The Switchblade is a 7-inch gaming tablet with a full keyboard and multi-touch screen. What makes the device so unique is its keyboard, which includes LED keys that change function and display depending on the game being played. The above video demonstrates this innovative concept well, showing off different configurations for first-person-shooters and MMORPGs.
The Switchblade is currently in the concept stages of development, so no specs have been announced for the tablet, nor have plans for distribution, but at this very early stage, it looks like a winner. If the system is powerful enough to run most modern PC titles, and can utilize 3G or 4G wireless technology, it should find a welcoming market of gamers who want to be able to take their games on the road. Finding a price point that’s palatable by both the company and the consumer could be tough, but I’m hopeful that the Switchblade can become a player in the PC gaming field.
