Harmonix and EA really do rock.  Last week, in response to the many reports of defective guitars packaged with their massive hit title Rock Band, the Rock Band team set up their warranty page to send new guitar peripherals to affected rockers free of charge.  The plan was to get the replacement axes back to gamers within 3-5 business days, at which point the damaged peripheral could be sent back postage paid. 

Seems like a simple, effective solution to a widespread problem.  Unfortunately, a manufacturer's delay has left many gamers twiddling their thumbs in anticipation of their replacements.  To make it up to them, the Rock Band team has sent emails to affected customers apologizing for the delay and stating that they would receive a free EA game for their troubles.  While they have not yet stated which game(s) would be offered, this is certainly a nice gesture to gamers who are so very accustomed to corporate indifference.  At least I think it is.  I guess it all depends; if they send Def Jam: Icon, that's awesome.  If it's Marvel Nemesis, not so much. 

The emails read as follows: 

After reviewing our records, we see that your recent request for a replacement guitar has been subject to an unacceptably long delay due to a late shipment from our manufacturer.

By the time you receive this, your replacement guitar should be on its way to you. However, the Rock Band team is committed to providing a world-class customer experience and we do not believe we have met this commitment in connection with your request. As a token of our appreciation for your patience and understanding, we will be offering you a FREE EA game. Details will follow shortly.

We are sorry if your first experience with Rock Band has not met your expectations. We hope our gift will show you how committed we are to your satisfaction.
