Rumor: 80Gb PS3 To Be Replaced With 120-160Gb Model
To Include Dual-Shock 3 Controller
Last week Gamervision reported on Best Buy dropping the 80Gb version of the PS3 from their shelves and the ensuing rumors about Sony phasing out that specific model. Well, it seems that a highly reliable mole over at Ars Technica is confirming the rumor and taking it one step further. According to the anonymous source, the 80Gb model is set to be replaced by a 120-160Gb model that would come packed with a Dual Shock 3 controller instead of Spider-Man 3 on Blu-Ray.
Early shots of 2009's 400 terrabyte version. It can be seen from space.
No word on any other specs like HDMI (though one would assume it will be included) or backwards compatibility, but the source does say that the new version will be offered at the same price of the 80Gb model. Good news to be sure, but how long will it be before Sony finds a hard drive capacity they’re happy with? Maybe they’re going for some kind of record for most SKU’s for a console. If that’s the case, they’re shoe-ins.

Didn't they bash MS for multiple skus?
cool. maybe i'll actually want to buy this one
lol I have the 60 gig one might buy the dual shock 3 when it comes out though
I just wish Sony would make up their mind already.....

yet again another PS3. they should have just made it with a removable hardrive (a la Xbox 360)
Something tells me when we finally get the new one that it may have many changes. Hopefully Sony has been listening to it base. Hopefully.
