Rumor: Blue Castle Developing Dead Rising 2

Sequel Talks Rise From the Dead

by Veggie Jackson

The original Dead Rising was awesome.  The initial claims of hundreds of zombies on screen at once may have seemed preposterous, but Capcom managed to make good on everything they promised, and delivered one of 2006’s best action games.  It certainly had its problems; a perplexing save system, sketchy aiming, tiny text, constant interruptions from that idiot, Otis, but overall, it was an original, challenging and impressive title.  Rumors of a sequel have popped up from time to time, but Capcom has squashed them, stating that they are “too busy” for Dead Rising 2.  Today, a source close to the developer has revealed to Eurogamer that Blue Castle is working on the sequel. Said the source, "Everyone's really excited; the team has obviously seen the rumours and it's been hard to keep quiet, but they can't wait to show off the game."

Without confirmation from Capcom, this is still just a rumor, but a statement and a recent job listing on Blue Castle’s site lend credence to the story.  The site states that "We are well underway on three new projects - an unannounced Action title and two Sports titles one of which was just announced,” and the job posting reads, "It's getting around - there is something amazing being built here at Blue Castle behind locked doors."  Certainly not confirmation, by any stretch of the imagination, but it is looking more and more likely that this rumor may actually pan out.

Blue Castle is responsible for this year’s baseball title, The Bigs, so they know a thing or two about swinging heavy, blunt objects, which is an absolutely vital aspect of any zombie game worth a damn.  I couldn’t be happier that a sequel is even a consideration, but I sincerely hope that Blue Castle, or whoever takes on this project, is able to remedy some of the first game’s glaring issues.

My biggest hope for this game is co-op, especially of the same console variety!

the only thing about the first one that bugged me was the whole timing and saving. Saving was confusing. When I died for the first time I chose the wrong option and ended up starting all over. NOT COOL, but other than that the game is awesome. Cant wait for a sequel.
