When Capcom announced that Strider Hiryu would definitely not be appearing in Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, it basically discredited the leaked list from last month.  That list, however, has proven to be far more accurate than many (including myself) believed it would be.  I certainly never thought that M.O.D.O.K., She Hulk, or Tron Bonne would make the final roster, but all have been confirmed.  Now, thanks to a portfolio posting on Comicartfans.com (via Shoryuken.com), there’s reason to believe that another character on that list may pan out, and we may know who the game’s boss character is.

Kevin Sharpe, who is apparently the penciller for an unannounced Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 comic book, posted a few images on his portfolio page.  One of the images shows Dr. Doom, M.O.D.O.K., Super Skrull, and Magneto, (all already announced) in what appears to be Dr. Doom’s castle, alongside another Marvel villain, the Taskmaster.  Another image clearly shows Marvel’s world-devouring cosmic entity, Galactus, along with Iron Man, Deadpool, and Dante.  While this doesn’t quite confirm these two characters will be in the game, but no other unannounced characters appear in these two or any of the other images Sharpe posted, and the images were quickly pulled from the website.  Make of that what you will.

Taskmaster is a Marvel villain who spent many years in obscurity, but has gained popularity recently.  His super power is referred to as “photographic reflexes,” the ability to mimic any action he sees performed.  This could mean that Taskmaster will be a “shapeshifter” character who uses other fighters’ techniques, similarly to Mortal Kombat’s Shang Tsung or Twelve from Street Fighter Alpha.  As for Galactus, he’s a 27-foot tall purple and blue cosmic entity who is older than the Big Bang, eats planets to keep balance in the universe, and wears the silliest hat in the known universe.  Sounds like a boss character to me.
