Rumor: Gearbox Developing Halo 4
For Microsoft's Next Console
It isn't the first time we've heard the rumor, but Official Xbox Magazine is reporting that Gearbox Software is working on the next installment in the Halo series, Halo 4, for Microsoft's next console. The story will appear in the October issue of OXM.
We know that Bungie has no interest in continuing the series, and that Gearbox makes a pretty damn fine FPS, so the rumor at least makes sense. Six months ago, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford called his new secret project "big. It’s, like, look-at-our-line-up-and-imagine-something-even-bigger kind of big." This certainly doesn't confirm that they're working on Halo 4, but I'm hard pressed to find another title that's looking for a developer that's big enough to make a CEO essentially devalue his other projects like that. There's also the fact that making a new Halo game is like opening up your own US mint, so Microsoft would certainly love to see another entry in the series.
Still a rumor, but we're following it closely.

if this is true hopefully gearbox can do something to make the game actually look good and mabye change the gameplay so it does not end up being halo 1.4
Simple lowgrav FPS. Doesn't require the precision of a PC FPS, so it sits on it's crutch perfectly. I'd REALLY like to see a tactial third person shooter in the halo universe, preferably without MC.

Halo 3's ending, in my opinion at least, did great justice to (seemingly) wrap up the series, or at least Master Chief's involvement.
C'mon now, let's not muddy up the storyline even more than it already is.
I'd buy it. Make it 3rd person tactical, make it mad gritty.

gearbox does have a good lineup but i dont think they an make a "better" halo game
they can make a good one but not better.

but Bungie has 3 projects under way and have been hinting that one is halo
also didnt microsoft accidently say bungie is working on a new halo project at E3?
is it that hard to make a better halo game? with the exception of the first one, they have not been great games at all and have really done nothing special.

halo is in fact a great game. its not as great as people expect but its a great game

and to tell u the truth their online play is really great and fun
I don't know about this. I'm hoping it's just a nasty rumor. Halo is it's own thing, much like any other games out there, full of its own idiosyncrasies. If anyone should be making another Halo game it should be the original creators.
they should base the next game on one of Mikey Hamz Halo fan-fics.
