With so many games being pushed back from the holiday season to early next year, you may be wondering what AAA titles you’ll have to play during the end of 2009.  If a German pamphlet handed out at Gamescom is to be believed (and they always are), that answer is Gran Turismo 5.

GT5’s release date has been a closely guarded secret, but the pamphlet in question lists the game as arriving "4. Quartel 2009."  Due to the game’s slow development cycle, most gamers didn’t expect to see the newest "Real Driving Simulator" until at least early next year, so this is something of a surprise.

Sony has yet to confirm this, so for now it remains a rumor.  If Gran Turismo 5 does hit around Christmas, it might outperform its already extremely high expectations due to lack of competition.  Add in a cheaper PS3 Slim, and you’ve got a recipe for massive sales of Sony’s hardware and software.
