Rumor: Logitech Developing UMD Adaptor for PSPgo
Like Paying Extra For Decaf, and Some Caffeine to Go In It.

I haven’t made it a secret that I’m no fan of the PSPgo. I think Sony is insane for trying to charge $250 for a PSP with less functionality and a smaller screen than the PSP 3000, which is only $160. Throw in the many gamers who have reported that the “Go” feels flimsy and cheaply made, as well as Sony’s utter abandonment of the UMD format, and you’ve got a system that I’ll likely never own. For those whose only hangup was the UMD functionality, though, a solution may be in the works.
CVG is reporting that Logitech is developing a UMD add-on to the digital-only handheld. Citing an unnamed source, the report indicates that the UMD player will allow the PSPgo to play all your old games, much to the relief of many PSP 1/2/3000 owners looking to “upgrade.” IT will also, reportedly, “make the PSP a little bulkier,” thus defeating the purpose of the PSPgo in the first place.
Seriously, I cannot understand why anyone would buy a more expensive handheld with a smaller screen that can’t play UMDs. I could understand if the other PSPs weren’t able to play downloaded games, or if the thing came with a second analog stick, but nope. I just don’t get it. I’m not sure if I’d find it more or less confusing if, once it comes out, they decided to buy the UMD adaptor with it. I just don’t know anymore.
