Rumor - New GTA Coming to Consoles in 2009

Depending on how much stock you put in Game Informer magazine’s “Loose Talk” rumor section, 2009 could be a huge year for Rockstar Games. They’ve already got GTA: Chinatown Wars coming to the DS in March, as well as The Lost and the Damned DLC for GTA IV arriving in February. There’s even talk of a third installment of the Max Payne series sometime this year. So what else could the publisher possibly throw at us that would eclipse all these lovely offerings?How about a new GTA for consoles?
Game Informer is reporting that they expect a new, full-length GTA game by the 2009 holiday season. This wouldn’t be a true sequel, but a new game in the GTA IV series, similar to Vice City and San Andreas. Here’s the quote from Game Informer:
"We're not talking about new DLC or a collection of previously available DLC, we're talking about a full retail game. We expect this title to follow the suit of previous GTAs and use a subtitle such as GTA: San Andreas, etc. Tokyo might be a possible setting for the game, but details are non-existent at this time."
While this is extremely exciting and makes perfect sense, considering the release schedule of the GTA III games, we have seen absolutely nothing that resembles confirmation from Rockstar, so this one is still a wild, unsubstantiated, speculative rumor. A wild, unsubstantiated, speculative rumor that has me jumping up and down with glee, but a rumor nonetheless.

Am I the only one that thinks this isn't a good thing? Too soon, to me.
I still haven't finished GTA IV. Not even going to think about this one yet!
Well, I got mixed feelings if this becomes a reality. I wasn't real hooked on GTA IV. So they will have to take it up a notch if you ask me.
if they do, they do, no big deal for me, i have never found there games to be that good IMO, never gotten into them.
I'm with QMarc... unless a separate team that had nothing to do with IV is developing this, it is far too soon.
Well, like I said in the last topic about GTA. I didn't like the first nex-gen one. Why would I like the next. Especially since it'll be out way to soon.
Regardless of whether or not we all like GTA IV, I think we can ALL agree that this is too soon if it's true.
I disagree. Vice City came out one year after GTA III, and no one complained about it. In fact, people have more affection for that game than II or San Andreas.
