Rumor: Sony Seeking Testers for "New Game Machine"
A Hazy Vision Through a Thick Language Barrier

You know what’s my favorite kind of rumor? Rumors that stem from Japanese translations. The fundamental differences between our languages make for some fantastic mistranslated quotes and often end up leading people to premature conclusions. That’s why this story makes me happy on two levels.
GameSpot is reporting that according to a “GameSpot translation by a fluent Japanese speaker,” Sony is seeking testers for a “new game machine.” If GameSpot’s translation is correct, a job listing on the official Sony Japan Web site calls for an "evaluator/assessor" for the new game machine, going on to say that the hired party would “be part of an advisory staff that will play PlayStation series software on this new machine and check its functionality.” and "test game machines not yet released or new functionality of PS3 peripherals before they are released."
So there’s the first level of my happiness; the speculation of whether this translation is correct, what kind of system it could be if it is true, when we could expect such a machine, etc. We still have to consider this to be pretty deep in “rumor” territory, but it does raise some interesting questions in light of persistent rumors of a new PSP.
The second reason I’m happy? I got to do my own translation, courtesy of Google Language Tools, and while info on this new system is even more vague here (“SCE will release a game console "PlayStation" and check the operation of the games played in the series.”), it did provide the following bizarre mistranslated gems:
“Do not worry if you have no motivation and expertise. Are welcome!”
“Q. Do I get to work just a game?
A. In addition to the game just to play and present a check for any defects. We have to find a bug report.”
“Q. Are you dressed yet?
A. Dress is free.”

Maybe it's just the 3-D thing. I would hate to hear that my "10-year console" is already being replaced.
I hope it's true, and furthermore I hope it's a new PSP that sucks less. Don't get me wrong I love my PSP, but the amount of game titles that I actually consider fun on the hand held little wonder rectangle are very limited. I probably have played 1 game that I can keep playing: Dragonball Z. Other than that I lost interest in almost every other game half way through.
I hope it's not that time yet for next gen talk. These machines should be around at least for 7 years
Dress is free?!? Sweet.
