Sega Developing Thought-Controlled Toys

ThinkGear Set To Take Over The World

by Veggie Jackson

If you thought the robot dog was creepy, this should scare the crap out of you.  Sega Toys, a division of Tokyo-based Sega Sammy, is partnering with NeuroSky, a leader in the field of bio-interface technology to create ThinkGear, a line of thought-controlled toys.  A statement released yesterday by NeuroSky CEO Stanley Yangn said that "SEGA TOYS is taking play to the next level, and we at NeuroSky are proud to be a part of this break-through in next generation entertainment" and that  “With our ThinkGear™ bio-sensor technology and innovative capacity of SEGA TOYS, our collaboration with SEGA TOYS will empower consumers to intimately interact with or control a toy, using their mind.”

While the thought of telekinetic toys is cool enough, the implications of a technology like this could be world-changing for the gaming world, especially with Sega involved in the development.  Could it be that we'll soon be controlling Sonic the Hedgehog with little more than our thoughts?  Sonic is just lucky we couldn't control his last 360 game mentally; he would have spent the whole game crying and wallowing in self pity.
