Spider-Man, Albert Wesker Revealed for MvC3

More New Challengers Appear

by Veggie Jackson

When Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 was first announced, fighting fans immediately envisioned epic clashes between fighters like Ryu, Wolverine, Morrigan, and Spider-Man.  Surprisingly, as more and more fighters were revealed, Spidey remained conspicuously absent.  Obscure Marvel heroes and villains like Super Skrull, X-23, and Dormammu have all been announced with nary a word about the webslinger, but today Capcom finally dropped the news that the one character we all knew would be in the game is in the game.  Also, Albert Wesker.

Two TGS videos hosted by Gamespot show off the newest additions to the roster.  Spidey looks to return with his move set largely intact, though he seems to have a few more options when it comes to utilizing his webs.  Wesker’s video shows the Resident Evil villain throwing his weight around with a balance of powerful strikes and good mobility.  It also shows the Asgard battle stage, which may have already been revealed, but it’s the first time I’ve seen it.

These two bring the roster total to 22, with the promise of over 30 in the final build.  This leaves plenty of room for favorites like Strider, Cyclops, Captain Commando, and Mega Man, a villain for Spidey (Green Goblin perhaps?), and a few unexpected surprises.  I’m disappointed that Capcom has already confirmed the absence of Dr. Strange, Daredevil, Punisher, and Phoenix Wright, but overall, the roster is shaping up nicely.
