Spike TV announces VGA nominees

Montain Dew fans rejoice!

by Veggie Jackson

Spike TV has announced the nominees for this year's Video Game Awards.  While many gamers feel that the Spike VGA's are nothing but a hype machine for Microsoft and whatever publisher pays the most that year, but the ratings don't lie, and like it or not, it is a major event and provides the largest exposure for gaming on TV.  The winners are chosen by a panel of game journalists (sadly, not including me) except for the "Most Addictive Game (Powered by Dew)" which is chosen in an online poll.  It is kind of hard to take the nominees seriously when so many of them haven't even been released yet, but here they are anyway with my predictions in italics.  Remember, these are my predictions as to who will win, not who SHOULD win.

Woohoo for a large majority of 360 titles and tons of games that aren't even out yet!

Seriously, go over to the system used by every other awards show. Products falling within "the year" are defined as products released between the last awards nominations and the current nominations. How the f*ck can you nominate Mass Effect, Rock Band, Uncharted, etc, before you've even played them.

Best multiplayer game? as much as i loved Halo 3. Call of Duty 4 found its way into my hands. It's just, beautiful, amazing and fun. needs more maps though. Acutally becuase of the great single palyer and storyline, I Kinda wish it was nominated for game of the year.

I watched one of these a couple of years ago, all the presenters and speakers were a joke. Wrestling stars and rappers if i remember correctly pretty much represented gaming to the public at this event.
    Ridiculous.
