Spore Coming To Mac In 2008

Simultaneous Release With PC Version

by Veggie Jackson

Macintosh has never exactly been the gamer’s choice in OS's, but it looks like EA will be paying a little more attention to the little white boxes this year.  The software giant is set to announce tomorrow that Will Wright’s highly anticipated and oft-delayed title Spore will be released on PC’s and Macs at the same time.  Utilizing their relationship with Toronto-based TransGaming Technologies, a company who specializes in PC-to-Mac game translation, EA is attempting to do what they have not been able to in the past:  deliver games for the PC and Mac simultaneously.

While Macs have historically never made up a significant percentage of the game market, EA is hoping that the creative nature of Mac users will sync up well with the creative nature of Spore.  An industry giant like EA taking a risk like this could be very beneficial for Mac users.  If this pans out, we could start to see Apple treated as a viable platform for all games.  As a recently converted Mac user, this would fill me with much glee.

Yeah, they announced a release time...again. Hopefully they will stick to this because i'm tired of hearing about World of Warcraft from all my PC gamer friends.

Yeah I am going to go with pc. More games is the only reason though I could not hook up into the internet with a mac I once had.
