Square-Enix Files Trademark for "Final Fantasy Type-Zero"
Probably a Typing Game
Back in the day, Square-Enix used to produce a Final Fantasy game once every year or two. Recently, however, the company has decided that it really, REALLY likes money, and has started cranking out spin-offs and compilations at a much more brisk pace. It looks like they plan to continue that pattern soon, as a European trademark for “Final Fantasy Type-0” has been discovered.
The trademark (009631144) covers a wide range of potential products, from “electronic publications in the field of computer games, video games, cartoons and/or general entertainment,” to “song books,” and “jigsaw puzzles.” This could indicate that “Type-0” may not be a video game at all, or at least that an upcoming game may be accompanied by a slew of merchandise, like oversized plastic swords and overpriced action figures (damn, Squenix, $40 for Vanille?!?)
In addition to the name, Square-Enix has also filed a trademark for the property’s logo, seen above. The Kanji characters translate to the game’s title.
Square-Enix has a production press conference scheduled for next month, so hopefully we’ll learn more about this mystery project then. I cant wait to get my hands on some new jigsaw puzzles.
