Suda 51's Next Game is Sine Mora

Cool. What the Hell is Sine Mora?

by Veggie Jackson

Suda51 is, without a doubt, one of the weirdest game designers out there. He’s worked on around 20 different games in his 17 year career, and while some of those games weren’t classics like No More Heroes or Killer 7, they were all unique and bizarre.  Even his earliest titles, the Fire Pro Wrestling series, saw a distinct Suda influence; the ending of Super Fire Pro Wrestling Special features the despondent main character killing himself after winning the championship.  He’s got a couple of new projects in the works, including a mysterious collaboration with Hideo Kojima, and now we know some details about one of them.  Suda’s studio, Grasshopper Manufacture, is teaming with Hungarian developer Digital Reality to bring us Sine Mora.  "Sine Mora" is Latin for "without delay."

Described as a side-scroller with unique time manipulation mechanics, Sine Mora will be a downloadable title on both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.  The game will "take advantage of the newest in 3D display technology to deliver a horizontal side-scrolling shooter unlike any other.”  Not sure how that’s going to work, since the games will be distributed digitally, and 3D glasses are notoriously difficult to download.  Regardless, Suda’s unique vision can be overwhelming in traditional 2D, so I can’t even fathom what mind-bending madness the man can craft with an extra dimension.

Sine Mora will mark the first of several projects from the collaborative effort. No more details exist as of yet, like price or release date, but we'll be keeping a close eye on the project, and keep you posted when we find out more.
