The New Lara Croft
This Time It’s A Hot British Chick!

Adhering to the classic Menudo business model, Eidos has chosen a new, younger model to portray their marquee character, Lara Croft. Alison Carroll, a 23-year-old receptionist, model and gymnast from London, has been chosen to portray the Tomb Raider protagonist, replacing the previous model, Karima Adebibe, who has played Lara since 2006. Carroll is the tenth woman to portray Lara, not counting Angelina Jolie in the two Tomb Raider movies, nor British celeb Jordan, who unofficially played her at ECTS before an official model was chosen.
Don’t get me wrong, Ms. Carroll is absolutely gorgeous, but to me, she doesn’t really evoke that Lara Croft feeling like some of the previous models did. Still, she looks great in the new costume, and should do a fine job of making convention-goers feel like they have a chance to score with one of the world’s most recognizable sex symbols. Which they don’t.
