ThinkGeek Selling New Dreamcasts
But You Missed the Boat

I don’t know where they managed to get a hold of them, but earlier today, ThinkGeek.com had brand new, still-in-the-box Sega Dreamcasts for sale. For $99.99, a brand new North American Dreamcast, complete with power and AV cables, one controller, a phone cord, a game demo disc, and a web browser disc could have been yours. You’d have to provide your own games (as the listing clearly states), but those are readily available, and it would have been totally worth it, if just to recreate that magical Christmas of 1999.
Despite only appearing on ThinkGeek.com earlier today, the DCs are already out of stock, leaving me, you and everyone else shit-out-of-luck. Sure, you can still go on eBay and pick up a used Dreamcast for about six bucks, but it won’t ever be new again. Even if it’s spotlessly clean, with zero signs of wear, you’ll still know. And so will I.

I was tempted to buy one of these earlier today. Not because I want one, but because I'm batshit crazy. I'm glad that they're gone so I won't be tempted to buy more consoles I don't have space for.
I owned a Dreamcast once. There must have been some boxes sitting in a warehouse somewhere. New Dreamcast systems in this modern age....who knew?
I'm glad I read this just now, because I would have spent the hundred bucks. It's better off in my pocket.
It might have been a good idea for five minutes, but a dead console is a dead console. Even if we all miss it.
i wonder if they were bought by people who intend to keep them pristine & in their boxes, collector-style, or by people who will open them up and really put them to good use.
