Tony Hawk Discusses RIDE Sequel, Other Genres For Board
Activision Apparently Hates Money

Apparently, Activision's massive profits from the sale of 900,000,000,000 copies of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 come with a stipulation. Much like Montgomery Brewster, Activision is being forced to spend their millions from MW2 as quickly as possible, and have nothing to show for it when they are finished. That has to be what's happening here, because Tony Hawk has stated that work has already started on a sequel to Tony Hawk: RIDE, and that Activision and developer Robomodo have plans to use RIDE's "technologically advanced" skateboard peripheral in snowboarding and surfing games.
In regards to the sequel to RIDE, which is currently rated between 51 and 60%, depending on which version you look at, Hawk said, "We have already started that process, but who knows what the future holds." As for the other genres, Tony stated, "I always thought that Kelly Slater's [Pro Surfer] was an underrated title for the PlayStation 2 ... I thought that people didn't really give it the attention it deserved."
While there seem to be some people who genuinely like Tony Hawk: RIDE and its peripheral, the consensus seems to be that the game is ugly, uninspired, boring and glitchy, and the peripheral is damn-near unplayable. Personally, I had a lot more fun standing on the board while playing NCAA Basketball 10 than I did trying in vain to control my last-gen skater with it. The buzz seems to indicate that this opinion isn't a rare one, and many (including myself) are predicting that all those RIDE boxes that are clogging up store shelves will continue to do so well into next year, and possibly beyond. In my opinion, the idea of producing a sequel to this awful game is absolutely ludicrous. Whether or not the board can be put to better use in other games remains to be seen, but all I've seen from the board indicates that these games would be just as wonky and difficult to control as RIDE is.

i like the idea of bobby kotick being john candy.
I'm guessing it could work as well for a surfing game as it does for a skating game...
Ugh. That's all.
